Q. What kind of software is Internet Class Reunion? |
| |
Internet Class Reunion (ICR) is a full featured portal site providing Email,
Chat, BBS and other services to its account holders.
When a user walks through the configuration steps, ICR with its facilities is
automatically generated on a dedicated server, so that the user can start
using Class Album, Email, Chat, BBS, etc with his fellow graduates from the
very same day.
ICR is accessible only by registered members - ' 1 room for 1 member '
system, Outsiders cannot enter. |
| Q. Is it free of charge for all members? |
| |
Yes, it is free, But only for members of the first registered graduation year per
school. Not free for the all graduation years.
Does this mean that there is a charge for registering another
graduation year? Yes. However, the annual server fee is only 10000 JPY. Regardless of the
number of members, this is the total fee per each additional graduation year. |
| Q. Are there any special requirements for registration? |
| |
As long as it is intended for a reunion community, there are no special
requirements apart from the ICR registration request form. This form can be
found on | HOME |, it is very simple. |
Q. I'm interested in creating an Internet Class Reunion (ICR) group, but do I
have to obtain formal approval from my school in advance? |
| |
Anyone in a school or official or unofficial school reunion organization can
create an ICR group.
For an unofficial school reunion, the group is generally labeled as "Unofficial
Site of XX School". |
Q. I am thinking of creating an ICR group as part of my school's unofficial
school reunion organization. Do I need prior approval from all alumni? |
| |
No, you do not need prior approval from all alumni.
As the creator of the group, you can issue passwords only to those members
who you would like to attend. Therefore, no prior approval is required. Any
pictures posted to your graduation album will be visible to anyone who
graduated in the same year, but the graduation album does not have a
copyright for access by the graduates in the graduation year.
An ICR group can be created with the approval of just 2 alumni and a
graduation album. Once the group is established, the group will grow from 2
members to 3 members and then 4 members, and then by word of mouth, it
will grow to 50 members, 100 members and so on. In this way, ICR is
designed to bring together the alumni from your school. |
Q. I graduated from ABC High School in 1970. If I set up a group for my
graduation year and then someone in another graduation year from the
same school sets up a group, will we be able to chat with each other? |
| |
Of course, it is possible. In the case of the same school, both years will be
integrated into the same ICR.
Under the ' INTERNET CLASS REUNION ' title there are two pull down menus,
the one on the left lists the graduation years, the one on the right lists all the
students in the selected graduation year. That is, all alumni of all graduation
years of a school will be integrated into your ICR.
Although all graduation albums of all graduation years are visible to all
members, sharing of mail, chat, free album, etc is fully configurable, and it is
up to you whether or not to differentiate the access to these services for
different graduation years.
In this case, how will all ICR managers be organized in the registered year?
In general, there is a "class reunion organization" for each school, and this
organization is made up of "reunion managers", one for each graduation
year. In accordance with this system, ICR establishes a committee to manage
the personnel affairs of reunion managers. (The committee has access to the
"executive room", which can be accessed by a password known only to
committee members.)
In essence, ICR has the same system used in reunion organizations in many
schools.
This committee is a private organization within ICR and is not an official
school committee. If necessary, you can invite the present reunion
committees of your school to ICR, or you can transfer the position of manager
to another classmate after creating the ICR group.
Although this may sound somewhat confusing, this just means that reunion
manager personnel changes can always be made through the ICR committee
when necessary. (You do not have to make any changes if not needed.) |
| Q. Is the privacy of each member fully protected? |
| |
ICR groups do not share a common password. Each member has their own
password and their own password-protected "room". Members can also
change their password freely. In this way, the privacy of all members is fully
protected.
To ensure further protection, reunion managers have a function in their
rooms to protect against potential abusers.
Can a class reunion really be organized with a "1 member, 1 room" system?
ICR provides a public space for social interaction among alumni and rooms
for individual members. You can use this trial version to see what ICR offers
and envision an official ICR group for your school. |
Q. Can someone with no good knowledge of the WEB carry out the ICR
registration steps? What are the concrete steps of this procedure? Are
there any important points to pay special attention to? |
| |
With a graduation photo album and a scanner, anybody can perform the
registration steps easily. Go to | HOME | and click on the ' INTERNET CLASS
REUNION ' title, then the <Setup Manual> of ICR which demonstrates the
registration procedure. It is a good idea to go through the sample steps
before doing the actual registration.
There is one very important point during the registration procedure. It is,
The all class members of registering a graduation year must be registered
with no exceptions.
Registering only some of the classes, or skipping some member or deceased
class members is strictly forbidden. Neglecting these essential rules would
defeat the purpose of the graduation album and cause database malfunction,
so please adhere to them strictly. |
Q. To create an ICR group for a school, does that school's official reunion
manger need to register? What does an ICR manager do? |
| |
You do not need to be the official reunion manager of your school to create
an ICR group. Any alumnus can initially register the group and then transfer
registration to the official manager after the group is created.
The ICR manager is the person who created the ICR group. The manager
must provide all members with individual passwords when creating the
group. The manager is provided with a special administrative page from
which e-mail messages with individual passwords can be automatically sent
to all members. |
Q. After I create a group, how can I access it and what is the official web
address? Also, what does an official ICR group page look like? |
| |
The web address and login password of the ICR group are displayed after the
group is created and registered. Enter the web address into your web browser to
display the login page. Then you simply enter your password to view your ICR.
HERE is an example of a header of an official ICR, and HERE is an example
of the ICR login page. |
Q. I belong to a private organization. Can I create an ICR group for a private
organization that is not affiliated with a school? |
| |
ICR is designed for school class reunions, but you may be allowed to create a
non-school related group depending on the organization. Please consult us
first. |
